New Schedule, Location Chat and Giveaways

Ok, so based on feedback I am planning for the second Wednesday of the month. Which would make the next meeting on the 9th of April. 5:30 seemed to work well for everyone.

Comment here if you consider that an issue.

Next task: Meeting location.
Pixelmedia has offered their space for meetings that require presentations, which is great. They are located in Pease.

I have looked into other locations. We can stay downtown for networking/social events at the coat of arms where we have been meeting. We can also do meetings at the 100 club, which is a private club, and has a great presentation area. The only problem with 100 club is that you have to pay me for your food and that stuff there is a bit more expensive.

The Press Room may also be able to offer us their top floor, which could be a good spot, but I need to chat with them a bit more about it. That would give us pleanty of space, but we need to lug a projector, which isn't a big deal.

Raffles and Giveaways:

Adobe is to send me stuff from time to time to give away how we see fit. I think in the next couple months we get to give away up to $1500 in software, which is pretty cool. To make it fair I am thinking of this system.

We draw a ticket out of a box on the giveaway day. No requirement to attend that day.
We can get tickets by doing a number of things:

1) One for each event we show up at.
2) Five for giving a presentation
3) Five for bringing in someone new (I don't count for this one, as I am trying to bring lots in)
4) Ten for finding us a sponsor (to cover snack costs)

This way if someone shows up at the drawing for their first meeting, they have a chance, but not as much as active members. Any feedback on this? I can get raffle tickets for the next meeting and a tin can or something to collect it all. We don't need hundreds of members, but meeting peers is one of the benefits of having this kind of group, so we should try to reach out and get all interested people to at least be aware.

Presentation Ideas

Last but not least, what are people interested in for presentations?
Flex and LiveCycle integration?
ColdFusion advanced ajax integration?
CFImage manipulation?
Bluedragon .net integration?
Presentations by Adobe on related things such as AIR?
Suggest some other items, and we can find people to do it, or suggest your own ideas to present or track down.

Josh,

The meeting date sounds good. As for location I am pretty agnostic as to where we meet. Although the presence of beer is always welcome.

I am interested in all things ColdFusion, but I am also open to new technologies, ie. air, flex etc.

Wednesdays work out great for me - as for venues, I second the proximity to beer vote. I love the Coat, but I think we need to make sure we can all hear one another so nobody feels excluded. This could probably just be addressed by stealing a bunch of tables right away though.

I'd love to see some presos on LiveCycle and the CF Gateway stuff. Other possible topics: cfdocument, cfpresentation and reporting - I've never had the opportunity to work with any of those 3.

I'm giving a presentation on Flex to the UNH AUG in May, and would be happy to give a similar, perhaps more CF-oriented version here as well.

Looks like we are going to have the upstairs of the Press Room available for us. This way we can do presentations and have space guaranteed.

Hey folks, sorry I can't make it tonight but in general this time and place should work for me. Sorry I'm going to miss the Jukebox presentation - Ken I checked out the app and it's pretty sweet. Nice work.

Is anyone else going to the MySQL conference next week? If so give me a shout, I'll be out there.
